手册翻译问题

翻译的是“如果方法和变量只在类内部使用，则应该在类名前加底线作为前缀”

但是，中间的一句怎么翻译？求完整的翻译。

不过大概的意思就是说实用和帮助的方法要使用抽象的

这句的上下文环境是说私有方法和变量吧，说“在类内部访问的方法和变量要带底线前缀”，但是中间加这一句是什么意思？其中的“public methods”不是公共方法的意思么？
